100 Nissan students from 8 villages at Haryana will add their voices to 420 high school and 40 college Blossom Bus riders from 29 villages setting an example for women and girls in their communities, advocating about the power and importance of educating the girl child and evaporating backward gender narratives that would keep them from pursuing their dreams and ability to shape their society and the world at large.Bus services began in August when schools opened in a phased manner while observing strict precautions to avoid infections and will continue under support from Nissan until the end of the 2023 academic year in March 2024.
We met some of the with the students under Nissan support at Hathin Girls Senior Secondary School in early September and were very impressed with their candid views on their education, career plans and what it means to be a young woman in a traditional rural community like theirs.
